I’ve been adding Pumpkin seeds to everything lately. They’re a great source of Zinc which is necessary for a healthy immune system, a healthy heart and liver, excellent for diabetics, a fabulous antioxidant and really important for kids for growth and development. There are some studies that show benefits for mens prostate health and womens menopause too.
Vegetarians or anyone eating a lot of grains, nuts and legumes might need approximately 50% more zinc in their daily intake as the phytates (phytatic acid) in these foods tend to reduce the bodies absorption of zinc. Women need 8mg of zinc per day
So throwing a handful of these in your salad or porridge is a great idea.
