The kind folks at Embody have allowed us access to their beautiful fitness sanctuary in Neutral Bay for a 6-week women only program to be paired with a nutritionist talk on various topics. No Embody membership necessary!
Each week we will have a studio to ourselves with an instructor to test out a different 1-hour class, including several of their signature classes. This will be followed by a 45 minutes’ nutrition talk on six different topics tailored to busy mums, with plenty of time for questions. This will be a fitness and wellbeing journey with friends from your local community, in a beautiful calm surround, to kick start a new health journey for some, or to introduce some variety and knowledge to others who are already active. One thing is for sure, it promises not to be boring!
On the nutrition front, I’m a university qualified clinical nutritionist with expertise in general nutrition for health, weight management, the links between diet and disease and sports nutrition. I specialize in evidence based nutrition which means that all information presented is backed by science and medical research, not a ‘woo-woo’ or celebrity fad in sight. My goal is to teach clients about the foundations of nutrition to set them up with healthy eating habits for life, not fads or unachievable fasts or cleanses. So that they can be healthy, active and happy for the long term. I am a big believer in the power of good nutrition, fitness and wellbeing for long term health, both on the inside and outside.

Nutrition Topic: Getting started, the nutrition basics
We will discuss the nutrition principals and where to start if you’re ready to eat healthier and make some simple changes for the long haul, for better health and more energy. We’ll touch on the basics – what you need at this stage in our life, why you need it, and simple tips on how to get in your daily meals. We’ll also discuss the fads and myths around carbs, fruits, and added sugar. We’ll finish with nutrition tips that work for getting the whole family to eat healthy, including the kids.

Nutrition Topic: Finding your healthy weight
So many of us have tried fads, cleanses, and special diets to rid unwanted weight with mixed or limited success. They typically last 1-3 months because they’re not sustainable, or they’re ignoring the importance of good habit forming which is essential for you finding your own healthy and happy weight long term. We’ll discuss why you’ve plateaued, binged or rebounded in the past, how to shift that little bit of weight you might be carrying, or how to tone up if that’s all you need. It’s all about what simple changes you can make to achieve the right weight for you, tips to stay on the healthy path, and how to do this with everything else that’s going on in your busy life.

Nutrition Topic: Healthy happy hormones
So many busy mums are running around on empty. Their hormones are imbalanced, they are riding the monthly roller coaster of ups and downs, and as a result they are stressed, anxious, flat, unhappy, experiencing skin breakouts, or poor sleep and more. The right nutrition can make a big difference on our hormones which in turn effect how we feel and act. We will go through the basics of hormones, common issues causing hormone imbalance, and how good nutrition can help to balance us all out, to be calmer, happier and healthier.

Nutrition Topic: Get your glow on
Who doesn’t want skin that glows? We will talk about the right nutrition and wellbeing strategies to get that glow on, to reduce inflammation and improve your inner health for better outer health. How to address problem, dull or ageing skin through good nutrition. We’ll cover lots of tips on food to eat to make you feel and look healthier, rested and quite simply GLOWING. Highly recommend attending both session 3 on hormones and session 4 for the best results as they are closely linked.

Nutrition Topic: Improving your energy and strength
We’re all tired, and likely putting our own fitness and health secondary to our families. This nutrition session will talk about the best foods to achieve both improved strength and energy, so we can get through our busy lives with less fatigue, and find the motivation to exercise more. We’ll cover lots of tips in avoiding those energy slumps and waking up feeling flat. We’ll also talk about the foods you need to eat when you’re working out more and on a fitness journey to improve your strength gains and the all-important recovery.

Nutrition Topic: Nutrition for Anti-Ageing, Inside and Out
We’ll discuss the ageing process from the inside and outside and how to tackle this with secret weapons from a nutrition perspective. What are the right foods to be eating daily or regularly to reduce the signs of ageing, both from a skin perspective and also from the inside including healthy joints and the ageing brain? We’ll talk about the best nutrition strategies to prevent against future disease. A lot of this session will be building upon earlier topics with regards to nutrition for healthy hormones, and reduced inflammation and stress. This session will build on learnings from session 4.
